India Rainbow Telephone Survey Event
India Rainbow is a settlement service in Brampton, Ontario whose mission is to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Peel immigrant community, enabling integration and supporting their settlement, social services, health, and educational needs.
This wonderful organization has long been an advocate of English is Stupid, Students are Not for every level of their curriculum.
On August 26, 2014, Thompson Language Center and Indian Rainbow combined forces to address a big problem facing all English learners – talking on the telephone.
Students at Indian Rainbow are answering three-questions in a short survey:
1) What is your first language?
2) What are your biggest problems communicating on the telephone?
3) What would help you use the telephone more successfully or comfortably?
A space for Additional Comments is provided at the end of the survey. Learners often like to share funny or disastrous stories about miscommunication on the phone.
Each and every participant in the survey will receive a free copy of English is Stupid to take home. I feel like Oprah.
We are using the results of the survey to develop an app for the biggest challenge English learners face – talking on the phone. Thanks so much to all the volunteers!
Until next time,
